Canninghill Square is the new City Developments Limited development located right in the heart of River Valley (CDL). At least three major developers have joined forces to redevelop the former Liang Court development into an integrated commercial node. Canninghill Square will be an integrated development that will be situated right on the east of Singapore River.
There will be a major impact on monetary and government policymaking because of LUCC. Liang Court is located in a prime area between two roads located facing the pastel Singapore River and the famous Fort Canning Hill. It is beneficial for City Developments Limited and will increase the company’s profits.
Within Canninghill Square, a commercial complex will be connected to Clarke Quay, so food and beverage outlets will be provided directly at residents’ doorstep. The partnership between CDL and Gallagher Estate to transform the property into a top destination for tourists and an entertainment hub for the foreign workforce is promising.
This plan will require approval from the authorities, so this plan has to be closely considered. The 1:1 share joint-venture will have industrial and individual components while Ascott Reit will have the remaining 192 units without hotel licence. CDLHT will enter the hotel through a buyback agreement.
In addition, Singaporean authorities are planning to further develop the prime estate that runs along the Singapore River. More amenities will be added at the Canninghill Square Station, making it one of the best features of the new development at the core city centre.
The plan coincides with the latest 2019 Master Plan to bring more dynamism to the Clarke Quay area as well as the surrounding area in order to bring despite the pandemic a more live, play and work area. As the government encourages social gatherings, Clarke Quay will be the first area of Singapore to benefit, and you’ll see a lot of visitors flooding the district, making it popular once again.
